Streetfest 2011 Recap

This May Bank Holiday held way to the annual Streetfest event held in the trendy, happening, cool kid area of Shoreditch, East London. Team FLYPRINTS went down to check it out and take some pictures of all the events and shenanigans.
Streefest is London’s number one street culture festival which aims to build a community of collective creativity. It is an all day event that provides live/performance art in the form of musicians, poetry, street dance, graffiti, skateboarders and bmx’ers as well as clothing stalls selling their products throughout the day. There are also outlets for food and drink to keep your belly happy.
The thing that stands out about Streetfest to me is how interactive the whole day is, there is a lot of audience participation and so many different things that are going on during the day that it is impossible to get bored. It attracts a wide range of different people, there were hipsters mixed in with families, mixed in with young people, mixed in with old people, mixed in with creatives, mixed in with fans. I really like it when an event doesn’t have a stereotypical crowd, it makes things mush more interesting when you meet and interact with people you normally wouldn’t find at the places you go to.
Check the pics out for yourself:

There was also a skateboard/inline skate ramp inside for people to show off their best tricks

The street dancers shake what their mamma gave ya!

The outside Remedy Raw Stage focused on spoken word and musicians. I actually preferred this to the main stage, the performers were much more interactive and really focused on crowd participation which overall made the performances a lot more entertaining. Shout outs to @MusicIsRemedy.

XO Man: Mustache always in check.

The turnout was huge and if you failed to arrive early you would have been stuck in the BEAST of a que which ran alllllllllllllll the way down the street.
