We all know Christmas is fast approaching when Selfridges on Oxford Street, go iinnn!!!! Second to none shop displays and exhibitions leave passersby stunned in amazement, and is known to attract many tourists who visit for a piece of London.
A series of festive family settings ranging from a dolls’ house to an urban tower block, can be seen in the shop windows.

In an Independent article which I came across, Erin Thompson, head of windows and visual merchandising at Selfridges, said: “This year we are responding to the shift for the simpler pleasures in life and are really keen to get all our customers starry-eyed, especially the adults among them”.

The store’s largest window has been dedicated to the Kids Company charity and features an estate of urban tower blocks, complete with neon satellite dishes and TV aerials.

These new displays really put a new twist, and perspective to the theme of Christmas, but with the recession hitting us hard, will people be more obliged to BMF? (Blow money fast).

Personally I feel it encourages a hearty Christmas ethos, but many of you may think different. So tell me really, are these window displays all a hype ting?? Or is this designing at its best??
