ROLL UP ROLL UP TO ALL YOU GRAPHIC ART LOVERS!!!!!!!!!!
The UK’s first contemporary graphic art fair returns once again to Somerset House. Pick Me Up 2011, started the 17th March 2011 until the 27th March 2011 featuring a variation mix of prints, illustrations and publications, the opportunity to browse, buy and take part in the process.
I went along to the exhibit and was truly impressed in what I saw, 24 up and coming graphic artist showcasing their work. Creative and executed master pieces of surreal perceptions conveyed through their everyday love interests, hobbies and inspiration or even childhood memories. Some of the best selected collectives and galleries in the UK had the chance to present their work of art at the fair….The THEMLOT who stood out to me the most is a collective of artists that created a graphic model city for people to work through and interact with (which I thought was kinda cool!) as well as doing holding stop frame animation workshops a set up of cameras spotlights to engage in the mini city.
Anthony Burrill is this year’s artist or should I say main attraction in residence of “Pick me up” fair expressing his unique styles and his combined approach to the galleries for everyone to acknowledge and get involved in.
I can probably say, what I mostly enjoyed about the fair, purely to fact I could actually do stuff!!!
A shadow in a silhouette workshop- I had to stand behind a screen with various paper cuttings of different shapes and patterns tied on my arms, head and stuffed in the neck of my shirt reflecting a true articulate projection…Let’s just say they got carried away.. All the name of ART!!!… I presume.
Believe it or not…Yep….that’s me!!! (IMAGE BELOW)
Then…went into the Anthony Burrill studio displaying his work and a live three dimensional paper model workshop by Emily Forgot and got the chance to talk to her briefly to what the workshop was about.
Within the actual studio I made my very own Anthony Burrill inspired print.
I got really scissor happy, glue sticking various paper cutting pieces which were all Anthony Burrill prints to his prior work….
You like!? (image below)

Overall it’s an inspiring exhibit. It’s kind of like a big boost of energy… declaration of talented articulate individuals displaying their art to the world.
In order to check it out you have until the 27th March 2011 -£7.00 Adults/ £5.00 concession
Here are a couple of my favourite of the art fair!!!
