“Renowned Nike designer Tinker Hatfield got creative when he dreamt up the Air Jordan V. To symbolize MJ’s aerial, penetrating nature on the court, he drew inspiration from the World War II Mustang fighter plane, which later earned the shoe its nickname: The Fighter. For extra flash, Tinker added a reflective tongue, reflective lace locks and a clear outsole.”
