New Music: The Shakka Crown Affair Mixtape

Local London lad Shakka released his latest mixtape last week: The Shakka Crown Affair. It is made up of 11 tracks loosely based around the concept behind the blockbuster hit The Thomas Crown Affair, in which a rich, successful, business man amuses himself by stealing valuble artwork. Except Shakka has no interest in artwork and instead goes about by stealing J Dilla, Coldplay, Common, Jay Z and Calvin Harris tracks, which he puts on his own soulful take of these tracks.
Quite simply.. the mixtape is dope and offers something fresh and exciting for the London music scene. With new mixtapes dropping on a regular basis within the scene it has become a rare occasion to find one that genuinely captures my attention for more than one play through. But the blend of rapping and soulful singing intertwined with the comedic skits and plot progression of the mixtape makes it not only an entertaining listen, but a head banging, catchy tune collection which happily fills my day.
Personal fav’s off the mixtape for me are ”On This Ting”, ”Lovely Jubbly”, ”Take our Time” and ”God Put A Smile Upon Your Face”
