Check out Kayobi Clothing’s new collection.
“Our Spring/Summer 2011 collection entitiled ‘New World African’ is the follow up the succesful ‘Its always Summer in Africa’ collection. The New World African collection was inspired by Aricans and lovers of Africa who are spearheading the African Renaissance.”
Firstly let me just say that I dont like everything from Kayobi’s new collection but, some of the Tee’s….. ohhh shezzzzs . For examplethe “fine boy design” is genius, it reminds me of the illustrations they use to advertise things in Ghana, alot of the things are done by hand and this has that hand drawn 1960′s vibe.
One thing I dislike about African Fashion is that it can sometimes alienate those who are not African. In pictures it’s as if Kayobi choose the “whitest” looking girl to say “hey look, white people can wear our suff too”. Does it work? In many of the pictures no, however, the “Make Fufu Not War” and “Sweet mother” (classics BTW) T-shirts do , I can easily see some one from Shoreditch/ Camden sporting Kayobi. The pictures below are my favorites.
What do you think?
