All last week i was listening to poetry (i know manly) and i stumbled across J. ivy his poetry and the his style of delivery had me mesmerized, (is that the right word…. yes it’s the right word) mesmerized to the point i kept listening to him over and over and over again.
J IVY
J Ivy is a Grammy award winning poet from Chicago.He’s appeared on Russell Simmons Def Poetry and performed poems like ’i need to write’ and ‘dear father’ he also featured in Kanye west’s album ‘College Dropout’ . ‘NEVER LET YOU DOWN’ is my track of the week.
J IVY’S words are the highlight of this track, “We are all here for a reason on a particular path you don’t need a curriculum to know that you are part of the math”, combined with the smooth soulful production of Kanye West J.ivy makes this track truly timeless. We all need music which is uplifting ,music which promotes “determination,dedication,motivation” with out being preachy. This song and lyrics talks directly to the soul. The spoken word from J.IVY is almost spritual, envoking strong emotions of hope,lloyalty,happiness and positivity.
