I dunno why i’ve put this song on this interview but, play it on on low whilst reading to get a feel of  Patricia’s  personality. I heard this song on her Blog.I initially met Patricia at The Nike Reset and i foolishly tried to impress her with what I thought was witty banter. I dunno if i made a good impression lol however,  Patricia  has created one the most unique “street wear”  brands I have seen thus far. Her use of  fabric and innovative concepts really stands out to me i really hope she achieves her dreams.  Check out the interview.
Hi how are you?

Patricia: I’m good sweets and yourselves?

Good good thanks.

So tell me a bit about yourself?

Patricia: Erm, I’m 24, from Hackney. You’ll probably never meet anyone else who is as sports mad as I am.

How did you come up with the name P.C Williams?

Patricia: It just seemed to happen naturally. Originally, back in like 2006/7 when I was thinking of the starting up the brand, I knew the kind of guy I wanted to design for. It just felt right to include him in the name.

What is the main theme of your brand?

Patricia: I think it is heavily focused on the textile. The combining of the textiles to make a strong piece.

What first motivated you to create your brand?

Patricia: I was designing for other people and I think I just felt it was time to go at it alone. Plus I felt I had a point of view to get across, one that was needed within the industry.

On your site is says you have knowledge of fabrics did you go to fashion school?

Patricia: I didn’t go to fashion school, I went to Central St. Martins, College of Art & Design and I studied textiles.

I really like your shirts how did you come up with the concept?

Patricia: I don’t really design like a lot of people… I don’t draw out shapes on a computer or draw elaborate illustrations and sketches. I choose the fabrics I want to work with and let it all come from that. Sounds totally hippy and that, eekkk! I guess the shirts are the strongest part of the collection and I’m really proud of that. I think they are strong because I understand the relationship between the fabric and the body and I have an eye for colour. I’m not sure if this all amounts to a concept but it’s my creative process.

How would you describe your personal style and what kind of brands do you wear?

Patricia: Erm, I would describe my style as being quite androgynous. I wear a lot of menswear, maybe 90% actually. I like colour but I’m going through a black phase. In terms of brands I love M&S pieces from the late 80s / early 90s. I love a XXL Ralph shirt. I wear a lot of pretty basic shit with huge jewellery mainly from Ridley Road Market and fresh Nike kicks.

What makes your brand different from the many street wear brands out there?

Patricia: The fact that a lot of people find it hard to place my brand within a certain box makes it different from whats out there.

The UK street wear industry must be tough, what keeps you going?

Patricia: The love for what I do and the belief in what I do.

So what is the dream?

Patricia: My dreams are too big.. Every time I cross one off I’ll let you know.

What’s been the lowest point of P.C.?

Patricia: Erm, having people rip me (not the brand but me personally) apart on online blogs… But the fact that they did it anonymously made me get over it quite quickly.

What’s been the highest point of P.C. thus far?

Patricia: The reception it gets from those I admire always has me on cloud 9.

Do you believe in celebrity endorsements? If so who would like to wear PC Williams?

Patricia: I think I’d be stupid not to give in to celebrity endorsements. I’m a firm believer in UK artists and so would think that someone like Tiny Tempa or Example could rock it well… At the moment though I’m working with a lot of up and coming talent, like Bubbz and Dreamer.

What advice would you give to new Fashion designers?

Patricia: You have to believe in yourself and what you’re doing because it can sometimes take a while for people to believe in you.

What can people expect from P.C. Williams in the near future?

Patricia: New Collections. Nice Collaborations. More More More

Where can people buy your stuff?

Patricia: If you’re in London you can find me at Beyond The Valley, Newburgh Street and Strong Look, Brixton. You can also find me in Intro in Manchester and on my online website at www.pc-williams.com

Thank you for your time
