Going Mainstream?

What’s does this mean….when you see your favourite artist change their music style to make it bigger in the music industry? Recently I was watching Loick Essien latest video…thinking “wow what a voice”…But is this the sound for him?
What do you guys think!?
In some ways it did go well for artist such as …Dizzie Rascal (all albums), Plan b with his second album (The Defamation of Strickland Banks) and bad for people like Kano I’m afraid! Not every artist’s is lucky as the likes of Adele, Jessie J, Ed Sherran, Ladbrinth or even the legendary Amy Winehouse where there renown purely for their unique sound and their musical movement.
The sacrifices of the mainstream industry are the advantages of longevity success and disadvantages of loosing loyal fans .Or if longevity doesn’t work! Why not dabble into the endless completion of the same song!!! ….you the know mixing the tune to fit for different genres …e.g. a Dubstep version, Dance version, Bashment version *sighs*…the list goes on! But in some ways going mainstream means getting into the industry on a higher level…Making you into the biggest brand possible….
But more so a stepping stone to what the artist initially wants you to do, a very good example Pink…who remembers her RnB days??? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7z9kD3UdOBU My verdict: when I hear an artist has gone mainstream in my opinion they are clearly conforming to the western world of making top record sells. MONEY MONEY, forgetting the whole idea of GOOD music Sian.
