Getting rich is no Dream….. reminds me of a 50 cent song ,WOW nothing to do with this post. Grind is a UK street wear brand with whom i first became familiar with a couple of months ago. I then saw them at The Reset 4 in Shoreditch. In their recent collection they use allot of photographic halftone images (screen printing geek talk). Now i’m not saying i don’t like GRIND because i do but, this style has been done by everyone.
What i really like about GRIND is their use of pictures from the eighteen hundreds, it gives the brand a distinct identity. My personal favourite is the Tee with the Penny Farthing. Quick piece of trivia the reason why a penny farthing is called a penny farthing is because an old English penny and a farthing (quarter of a penny) looks like one put together (I really need to find a girl friend). But yea the the phrase “ride or die” really makes the design because two opposite worlds are bought together. The statement “Ride or die” is popular phrase coined by the rap group Ruff Ryders . (This designer listens to too much rap)
