Here is the first FLYPRINTS logo. As you can see it’s not much to look at, at the time we were heavily influenced by Billionaire boys club hence, the rocket. We actually created this design in a rush as a CERTAIN, team member had negotiated to print our logo on the back of the tops. This was before we actually designed a logo. Needless to say the whole job was rushed and we learnt allot of lessons.

This is the modification of the first logo. As you can see we kept the same text however, we replaced the rocket with a cartoon screen (essential tool for screen printing). When we created this logo we didn’t put much thought into how it reflected our company identity. We just made something we thought looked good. Our company identity wasn’t completely realised anyway. One of the major issues with this design was the spacing and the positioning of the words in relation to the screen.  This was something which would be modified in the next design.

This is the third design of the FLYPRINTS logo. We improved the second design by pushing the screen closer to the text. We also incorporated leaking paint into the design. The idea of the leaking paint came from designing the business cards and we liked the concept therefore, we kept the paint.  So, here we are today.  Why did we decide to change our Logo?  Firstly within the team some member we’re not completely happy with the logo as the ‘Fly’ text and the ‘Prints’ didn’t complement each other. Secondly close friends of FLYPRINTS also suggested that Improvements could be made in regards to the logo.  As a result we decided to go back to the drawing board and start again.

This time we decided to create a solid identity first and then afterwards we could design a logo which encapsulated our ethos. Consequently, we thought about what kind of company we wanted to be and what we wanted to convey. So began by analyzing what we were, this being graduates we then thought of the positive qualities ‘Graduates’ possed. We thought this was creativity, flexibility and energy therefore, the new logo had to encompass these characteristics.  Next we thought about the qualities our target audience valued and after research we came to the conclusion that this was low prices, good quality, professionalism and artistic support. Hence the new slogan ‘ The designers choice at an affordable price’. Once we had created our company identity we then began designing the logo.

So here is the new and improved company logo. We feel this effectively conveys our identity. The choice of colours was done to grab attention. The hand drawn effect  conveys creativity. The elevation on the paint shows progression and energy. The multicoloured FLYPRINTS text was done to compliment the design however,we chose not to use the hand drawn effect as we wanted  express professionalism. Finally half of the FLYPRINTS slogan was placed underneath the text. We chose tree words as this had a better impact (three is the magic number) . The choice of actual phrase ‘The designers choice’ was picked to convey quality as, if we could print for finicky designers then we could print for anyone.

So this is FLYPRINTS April 2010 see you in 2020.
