Hi how are you?
Very well thank you for asking
So, what’s your name and tell me a bit about yourself?
My names Jules Zambon, Ask about me.
What is ‘ask your girl’ and ‘Star Player Clothing’ and what is the main theme/s behind the brand/s?
Ask your girl is a multiplatform entertainment brand and star player clothing is the forefront of the movement. Ask your girl is based on the empowerment of women, it is all about asking for their opinion rather than assuming or telling them what to think, the meaning behind star player comes from sports and it’s all about being that indispensible part of any team or setting when working towards a goal.
How did the name your ask girl’ and ‘Star Player Clothing’ come into existence?
True art is a funny thing it just happens the way it happens spontaneously
What is your favorite piece out of the collection and why?
I like the classic ask your girl tee a lot its still provokes great reaction.
What do girls think of your brand?
You’re going to have to ask them.
What first motivated you to start your brand?
No particular motive I aint one of those wanna be fashion designers I’m just a business man with good ideas. As time goes on I am becoming more fashion forward but I still don’t give a shit about what trends are out there I make what I want regardless.
What’s the been the highest point in your brand’s journey thus far?
So far as a brand id say the promo I got off of street dance the exposure from that really stamped my presence and it’s a kids film so all of the young ones are now following!
What’s been the biggest learning curve?
I’m always learning I’m in the middle of giant curve right now, I’ll write a book about it when I’m older
So you organize events too, tell me about off the radar?
Yeah off the radar is an annual event which started in 09 its focus is providing a great unique experience for the customer and giving them something you can’t find on the high street. Hence the name and hard to find location
What was it like organising such an event?
Yeah it’s all good no complaints.
What do you think of the UK street wear scene compared to the US?
Less competitive here , people don’t work as hard as they do in the U.S and of course the scale of things are far apart due to population and size of the country.
What brands do you think it killing it right now in the UK?
Money, King, Maharishi, T-magic, Benjart, Askyourgirl, Star in the hood, B-side by wale, Trapstar, Second son, Pins, Dopechef and Trinitron
What do you think it takes to create a good brand?
To create a good brand you need a strong ethos. Without that you are not going anywhere because you don’t actually represent anything.
So what’s next for Ask you girl and you the event organiser?
More events, more clothes, more music, got one event pretty much every month for the rest of the year.
Where can people buy your stuff?
At events or online http://askyourgirl.wordpress.com/
