Here’s something to brighten you your Monday morning. You might have seen these crudely drawn monsters pasted up around London, done Bortusk Leer these images have been hand drawn to put a smile on your face. Bortusk describes his style as ‘art comedy’ and he first bust on to the scene in 2007.
I love this highly satirical newspaper. In my opinion the crudely drawn images cleaverly mocks everthing we take seriously, it’s as if Bortusk is saying ‘take a break and give you inner child a hug’, I just hugged little Bobby(out of context that could be taken in the wrong way)
Bortusk intentionally produces his art work on old news papers. Challenging the concept of mass produced products. The short lifespan of the news paper also illustrates the ephemeral nature his pasted up pieces of art.
Over the last 3 years Bortusks has exhibited his work in several London shows such as ‘ The Alternative Philosophy at leonard street Gallery’ at ‘Mutate Britain at Cordy house’ and most recently at ‘Tony’s Gallery’ in Shoreditch. In 2009 the BBC commissioned a series of 2min animations named ‘Street Monsters’.
I really like Bortusk Leer and i really like the concept. Just Smile
